HUSTLE MY LABEL! Design Competition

Calling all talented and enterprising RMIT students! Are you ready to hustle your labels?!
The Catwalk Club wishes to thank RMIT Student Life for their generous Innovation Grant for this initiative!

Competition Title:
HUSTLE MY LABEL!

Eligibility:
Open to any current RMIT student, including off-shore campuses.

Brief:
Create an innovative fashion brand! Make a team, illustrate a capsule fashion collection of three outfits- the most unique, engaging, focused, meaningful, authentic, sustainable and scalable brand will win the prize.

Prize:
The winning team can take their ideas to the next level and realize their fashion brand with $4000 towards a limited production run and promotion. Promotion includes a Launch Party event with the RMIT Campus Store, entry into the Catwalk Club VAMFF Offsite Runway 2019, Catwalk Club social media promotion, plus opportunities to showcase/sell work via the RMIT City Campus Store and Catwalk Club pop up markets in 2019. (Promotion does not include print publication, but the winner may use part of their production run allocation for this purpose if feasible.)

**How to Enter:

Teams/Individuals must send a brief label description and a few images to catwalkclub@rmit.edu.au

Pitch your brand idea, target market and a capsule collection of three outfits, colour palette and fabric choices. Designs can be technical drawings or concept drawings. Teams can send their videos to catwalkclub@rmit.edu.au or post via Instagram with hashtag and tag hashtag #hustlemylabel #rmitcatwalkclub and tag @rmitcatwalkclub DEADLINE: 11:59pm February 15, 2019
Shortlisted teams will be announced February 15 via RMIT Catwalk Club Instagram and Facebook pages

Methods of Communication:

For multidisciplinary teams crossing campuses, eg. RMIT Vietnam, Brunswick, Bundoora and City Campuses, Facebook Messenger is one method teams may wish to conduct meetings during the competition period to formulate their brand concepts and designs.

Round 2 Pitch/Award Night: end of February 2019, The Hanger, Bldg 516 Brunswick Campus, 6-9pm

Shortlisted teams will be notified and invited to pitch their brand in 5-minute presentation at the HUSTLE MY LABEL! Pitch/Award Night, to be held at The Hanger, Bldg 516 Level 2 Brunswick Campus at the end of February, 2019 (Date TBC) 6-9pm. Off-shore shortlisted crews will be pitching via video. The winner will be selected by an expert panel of judges.

Judging Criteria:

Shortlisted teams and the winner will be decided by an expert panel of judges based on seven criteria for brand essence:
1. uniqueness
2. engagement
3. focus
4. meaning
5. authenticity
6. sustainability
7. scalability

Project Schedule/ Important Dates:

Registration Deadline: January 31, 2019 (11:59pm)
Round One Instagram Pitch Deadline: February 15, 2019 (11:59pm)
Shortlist Announcement: February 22, 2019
Pitch/Award Night: End of February 2019
Launch Party: TBC (pending production completion, expected mid to late 2019)
