Catwalk Club Presents Show
The “Catwalk Club Presents” Runway Show will feature selected capsule collections and fashion design work from a range of emerging fashion designers at the The School of Fashion and Textiles, RMIT, including womenswear, menswear, unisex, performance/ streetwear, lingerie/swimwear and everything in between. Over 400 people are expected to attend the show which will take place at the RMIT City Campus’ newly redesigned Media Precinct, New Academic Street, on Thursday March 15, 6-9pm. It is presented as part of the VAMFF Offsite Runway Program.
With an eye to the blending of traditional and advanced technology in fashion design, designers will showcase innovation and creativity with a view to creating new responsible and vibrant paths to the future of fashion.
Lasercutting, pattern making, embroidery, 3d printing, vacuum forming and a special focus on the latest 3D virtual prototyping technology will all be on display. Each designer through the rigorous guidance and scrutiny of RMIT fashion design staff has developed their work from concept to fabric selection and construction to industry standard.
The show will also be unique from the perspective of the participants which will comprise of a range of RMIT students from various disciplines, photography, art, music, graphic design, creative writing and journalism. It highlights the potential of cross-disciplinary networking and collaboration through student initiatives supported by the greater university administrative body.
Committed to its success are the founding group of RMIT fashion design students: Rosanna Li (Club President, 1st year MA Fashion Design student), Kumari Pelsoczy (Publicity Officer), BA Fashion Design Technology graduate, and Georgia Devlin (Treasurer) BA Fashion Design Technology graduate.
The Catwalk Club is generously supported by RMIT Creative, which seeks to enhance campus life with enriching creative opportunities for all students, as well as members of staff from RMIT School of Fashion and Textiles.
RMIT Creative can't wait to host the Catwalk Club Presents show as
part of VAMFF. This student lead initiative is one of the most
exciting and ambitious new clubs at RMIT, and we're sure their debut
show in our freshly constructed New Academic Street precinct will be
the first taste of amazing things to come.
