The Catwalk Club will be pioneering a new initiative and we want to know what you think!

What is the Fabric Swatchbox?

The idea of a Fabric Swatchbox is literally a BOX which fashion and textile designers can access to sell or trade their fabric remnants.

How does it work?

For example, you have excess fabric of good quality left over from your collection, you can cut a 10cm x 10cm square ("swatch"), label it with the fabric content and your contact details, and pop all your swatches in the Swatchbox. Other students, who are looking for good fabric can look in the box and contact you. The Swatchbox will be kept somewhere central on campus for easy access.

We think this will be a great boost to the issue of finding good fabric and fostering sustainability, as well as build a strong community network. What do you think?!
Email us at catwalkclub@rmit.edu.au and let us know what you think of our idea, and what you do with your fabric offcuts!
In the meantime, we are planning a huge Fabric Remnant Party, AFL Footy Grand Final weekend Sunday September 29, 12pm-3pm at Brunswick Campus! Are you coming?!
